PLUS: YC AI startups take over, ChatGPT plugins are here...

Hey folks,

Welcome to Brain Salad, your weekly portion of the freshest things happening in AI.

Letā€™s tuck in.

In this weekā€™s edition:

  • Stanford and Google make an AI town šŸ™ļø

  • YC Latest batch, ā€œMaybe AI can doā€¦ this?ā€ šŸ¤”

  • Thereā€™s a ChatGPT plugin for thatā€¦šŸ”Œ

  • Plus tools, trending news, and memesā€¦

Stanfordā€™s AI Town. Population: 25 šŸ‘‹

Ai Researchers at Stanford and Google released an incredible new paper this week. They designed a Pokemon-like virtual town populated by friendly AI.

The sim involved 25 AI avatars all equipped with memory, reflection, and planning capabilities. The researchers then let them run loose. So basically The Sims but with characters that control themselves (they even managed to arrange a Valentineā€™s party).

AI All The Things!

Techcrunch writer Devin sat through the latest batch of YC demos and was blown away by the sheer number of AI-based startups.

According to Devin the overriding theme this year was ā€œAI can do that, probably! Maybe.ā€

Is this a replay of the rush to fund Web 3 starts ups? Possibly but arguably the real-world applications are more tangible this time around.

ChatGPT Plugins are wild

If youā€™ve been on Twitter this week your feed will have no doubt been taken over with chatter about ChatGPT plugins.

If you can think of it, thereā€™s likely a plugin for it. Some highlights include:

Opentable: Use ChatGPT to parse millions of reviews on Opentableā€™s platform to find the most relevant places for you.

Fiscalnote: Selling across borders and remaining compliant can be a total headache. Enter Fiscalnote. Simply ask a question and get the answers you need.

Do Not Pay: AI Pioneers Do Not Pay makes it easier to cancel your gym subscription and take ownership of your third-party data.
